Library Code of Conduct
Where are the quiet spaces? Can you bring food? Is cell phone use allowed? Please review our code of conduct to ensure the best environment for all.
Collection Development Policy
Visiting the library after hours
When library services close, an active TU OneCard is required to enter the library. All guests present in the library at closing may be asked by security or library staff to provide TU-issued photo identification in order to remain in the library after hours.
Photography or filming in the library
Any use of the library as a filming location (including still photography) must be approved in advance by the Dean of Libraries. This includes photoshoots that are conducted by university entities, groups, courses, and any commercial enterprise. To request film or photography permissions, fill out this form and submit to libraryspaces@towson.edu. Once reviewed, you will receive an email confirmation that will serve as your written permission.
- Individuals may take photos or videos for personal non-commercial use provided they have obtained permission from any identifiable individuals depicted in the images or videos.
- Any photographic images or video captured/recorded within Cook Library and sold for profit, commercial gain, or in return for any form of compensation, constitutes a ‘commercial enterprise’ and is not permitted in the library.
- Please be respectful of the space and the library’s open hours. Photography and videography should not violate library users’ reasonable expectations of privacy.
- Those filming or taking photographs within Cook Library are prohibited from removing, relocating, modifying, or attaching any item to any structure or other property of Cook Library. This includes rearranging shelved items or standing on library furniture.
- Photography or videography should not interfere with or disturb any library activities, nor should they in any way restrict visitors from using any area of the library.
Event and Tabling Policy
For inquiries about reserving library spaces for events or outreach tabling, contact libraryspaces@towson.edu.
