Mission, Vision, and Values

Albert S. Cook Library transforms learning by empowering our community to discover, engage, and create.

Albert S. Cook Library is a catalyst in building an information literate community. We will lead both locally and nationally in preparing our students, faculty, and staff to succeed in an increasingly connected world.

  • Support the research and information needs of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
  • Cultivate an inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Advance goals of open and free access to knowledge.
  • Serve as responsible stewards of state and local resources.
  • Design, implement, and maintain user-centric services and resources.
  • Foster a learning organization that encourages collaboration, experimentation, and risk-taking.
  • Commit to supporting and investing in library staff to create a culture of ownership, diversity, creativity, and ingenuity.
  • Empower stakeholders with transparent communication.
  • Build a culture of assessment.
  • Engage with the community both within Towson University and throughout the Baltimore region.
