Request Materials for Purchase

Each department and program is designated a portion of the annual library materials budget to purchase books and media materials (DVDs, streaming videos, CDs, etc.) that support the curriculum of that academic department.

Requests for book and media purchases should be sent to your Department Representative to the Library. The Department Representative coordinates the department's selection of materials and submits orders to the library. The Acquisitions Department has two deadlines for orders during the fiscal year: November 1 and February 15.

Faculty may also request materials using the electronic Material Purchase Purchase Request form. Materials are purchased in priority order and in consultation with the Department Representative. Contact Whitney Blake for further information or to inquire about a requested title.

Many Department Representatives have set up profiles with the library's primary book vendor, GOBI Library Solutions, in order to receive electronic notifications describing new books in their profiled subject areas. If you are a Department Representative and would like to set up a profile for such e-notifications, or if you have questions about an existing profile, contact Whitney Blake.

For information about what considerations the library follows when purchasing materials, see our Collection Development Policy. For any other questions about requesting new materials for library purchase, contact Mary Gilbert, Assistant University Librarian for Content Management .
